Director of Capacity Building and Standards at Involve

Carly Walker-Dawson is the Director of Capacity Building at Involve, the UK's leading public participation organisation. Her work includes developing and delivering training programmes, strategy development, offering guidance and support to decision makers and policy makers, and creating good practice resources and thought leadership.

Carly has led on a variety of Involve's capacity building focused projects including the UK government's leading public engagement programme, Sciencewise, the Local Climate Engagement programme working with local authorities to do high quality local climate engagement in decision making, and the flagship School for Everyday Democracy programme that builds the power of individuals so that they are equipped to create positive and lasting change in their communities through participation, deliberation and organising.

In a past life, she was Chief Executive of a global network of children and youth participation organisations. Carly holds an MSc in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. 

In her spare time, you can find Carly at the boxing gym, out watching live music, or getting involved in community activism. She is based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
