Mashkura is a public and community engagement specialist with extensive experience of developing strategies to bring communities together. She has successfully connected people and communities to decision making including policymakers, health care professionals, commissioners, and government stakeholders, to co-create public policies and services. As well as working in Birmingham's most diverse neighbourhood, has worked internationally, driven by a common interest to explore meaningful ways to create dialogue between communities and decision makers.

Mashkura's qualification includes LLB Law, Executive MBA and is an accredited Governance specialist with particular focus on Charities.

Her experience encompasses working in areas of community cohesion, engagement, partnership development, stakeholder analysis, business development/growth, specifically with small and medium sized not for profit organisations.

She was the Head of Community Cohesion and Engagement at Urban Living (Housing Regeneration Pathfinder) and turned around a failing programme to "outstanding" as deemed by the Audit Commission. Mashkura was one of the youngest Chief Executive of Leadership development organisations established by Birmingham City Council.

Mashkura is currently Chair of Trustees for a Women's charity in Birmingham called Saathi House and Co Chair of Birmingham Citizens UK and national community organising charity.
