Community Advisory Boards (or Public Advisory Boards, Patient Advisory Groups and similar descriptions) exist to bring together local knowledge, professional and lived experience, relevant data and research expertise to support better research, policy and practice. There is a wealth of knowledge, practice and theory about what needs to considered in designing and managing Community Advisory Boards (CAB) but the people involved rarely have time to delve into this rich learning.
The Community Cast has been commissioned by NCCPE to bring together the experience and knowledge of CAB members and academic researchers to examine the question: what do we know about designing, setting up and managing CAB?
-
The purpose of this survey is to bring together knowledge about CAB from a range of sectors, people and places. We are interested in hearing from people who have experience of designing, participating in or hosting CAB, as well as those who do not. We would like to know what resources and knowledge you have found helpful and where you think there are gaps in resources and knowledge that it would be helpful to fill.
We anticipate the survey will take approximately 10 - 15 minutes to complete.
This project and survey have been designed in line with the Community Cast’s Ethical Framework (link). Your participation is entirely voluntary. None of the questions are compulsory; if you do not wish to answer any particular question, simply move on to the next.
You are not required to give your name, or any other information that could identify you. However, please bear in mind that without this data it will not be possible to remove your responses from the record after you have submitted them. There is an opportunity to express interest in being involved in future stages of the work at the end of the survey where you can share your contact information.
We will store all your responses securely in password-protected files held on a server hosted by the University of the West of England, Bristol. Before we store the responses, we will take out people’s names, and any other information that could be used to identify them (such as their job or where they live); we will also take out any mention of third parties, such as businesses or organisations.
If you have any concerns about the survey, please email Nicola Gratton nic.communitycast@gmail.com, or Adam Gratton at yourcommunitycast@gmail.com. If you would prefer to speak to someone who is not involved with the Convening Knowledges project, please contact nccpe.enquiries@uwe.ac.uk.
Thank you for contributing to our shared knowledge about CAB.
