Kingston University London
Why we've signed the Manifesto
Universities are places of learning, their role is not to keep their learning private, but to disseminate it; an informed society is a better, richer, healthier and more tolerant place. Universities do not exist in isolation, they need public support to thrive, this support is best achieved by helping the public understand what happens in universities and its benefits. The public are, through taxation, a major funder of universities and therefore have a right to know how their money is being spent. In summary public engagement is not an add on, but should simply be at the heart of what we do.”
