Introduction
Thank you for agreeing to take part in this survey.
The survey offers you an opportunity to share how well you think the University of Chester (UoC) supports public engagement. You will need to complete the survey in one go as you are unable to save your answers before they are submitted.
This survey is being conducted because UoC has applied for an Engage Watermark which is assessed and awarded by the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE). Acting in a similar way to a chartermark - the Engage Watermark is an award granted to institutions for strategic support for public engagement, and a commitment to improve that support. Just as a watermark runs through the fabric of a document, the Engage Watermark indicates that engagement runs through the fabric of the institution.
When we talk about public engagement, what do we mean?
Public engagement is a term that is widely used in a variety of sectors, from arts and heritage to science policy and local government. Whilst in some sectors it has a precise definition, in others it is used more flexibly. The National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) defines public engagement broadly, to encompass the many and varied ways university staff and students engage with others outside the institution.
