NCCPE vision and mission

Our vision is of an inclusive higher education sector where communities can contribute to, and benefit from, knowledge, teaching and research.   

We are focused on mobilising higher education (HE) and knowledge institutions to realise the value of public and community engagement, for long-term change.  We aim to inspire collective action across and beyond the HE system and promote environments and cultures where high-quality and equitable engagement activity is recognised, rewarded, and can flourish.  

Communications Support required

We require freelance support to manage and deliver our existing strategic NCCPE communications channels, including: social media accounts (Facebook and LinkedIn); media platforms (YouTube and Soundcloud); Website; Jiscmail lists; NCCPE Newsletter and PEP Network newsletter. 

This work will include, but not be limited to:

1. Coordination of the NCCPE social media accounts (Linked In and Facebook) and media platforms (YouTube and Soundcloud)

  • Creating, editing, and scheduling content
  • Highlighting and linking back to NCCPE website content
  • Relaying any queries to the NCCPE team
  • Liaising with the NCCPE team to highlight upcoming opportunities, e.g. events; services; role recruitment

2. Managing the NCCPE website (Drupal 10 site)

  • Regular spot-checks and troubleshooting issues in collaboration with our external web support team
  • Writing and updating content when needed
  • Ensuring communications channel metrics are gathered and analysed to support NCCPE MEL objectives and inform future developments

3. Curating and delivering a monthly sector newsletter (DotDigital).

4. Supporting bespoke communications plans for events, services launches, etc. as and when they arise, including:

  • All communications leading up to the event
  • Producing press releases
  • On the day communications and live tweeting
  • Follow-up communications

5. Ensuring all communications activity reflects the NCCPE’s commitment to challenging inequity in, through and by the work we do.

6. Managing data protection processes around NCCPE communications channels.

7. Advising and supporting the NCCPE team to deliver communications activity that maximises core, project and services opportunities.

The NCCPE team are based in central Bristol, however this role will be home-based. You are welcome to work in the office if you are able to do so.

    • How you would approach managing our communications work to ensure it is in line with our vision, mission and values (max 500 words)
  • Your cost per day, including whether you charge VAT. The guideline day rate for this work is £350.
  • Your normal weekday availability.
    • Please note that the role can be done flexibly, with some attendance of online meetings required. NCCPE core working hours are 9:30am - 4.30pm on weekdays but meetings will be scheduled around your working hours as much as possible.
