Attributes Framework for Public Engagement
A guide for staff and students in UK universities with regards to the personal attributes and skills required for different engagement activities.
Last updated December 2010
The NCCPE commissioned Graphic Science to support the development of an attributes framework for public engagement. This guide was developed for staff and students in UK universities, with a focus on the personal attributes and skills required for different engagement activities. Developed in 2010, this framework highlights core attributes and skills in three domains—communication, reflection and empathy—that support public engagement.
You may wish to use this framework to assess where your current attributes are strong and where you may wish to further develop them. You may also be interested in exploring the public engagement lens of the VITAE Development Framework.
