Reflections on Community-Based Research by Dr Rajesh Tandon
Dr Rajesh Tandon shares some of the lessons he has learnt about supporting ethical practices in participatory research and on how to enable community-based research, drawing on over 50 years of experience and insight.
Rajesh Tandon set up and leads Participatory Research in Asia, an organisation which enables community-led research to effect long term change. He also co-directs the UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education alongside Dr Budd Hall. The UNESCO Chair supports the co-creation of new knowledge through partnerships among universities (academics), communities (civil society) and government (policy makers) leading to new capacities; new solutions to pressing problems related to sustainability, social and economic disparities, cultural exclusion, mistrust and conflict; and awareness among policy makers; enhanced scholarship of engagement; and of social responsibility in Higher Education.
