The innovation funding of £60,000 furthers the NCIA's aim to increase the connectivity, momentum, and effectiveness of the HE sector’s civic activities for local societal, economic, and environmental benefit to maximise the contribution universities can make towards addressing societal challenges and responding to policy priorities.

The university-led partnerships in receipt of funding are;

  • Anglia Ruskin University
  • University of Kent
  • Lancaster University and University of Plymouth
  • Staffordshire University
  • Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London
  • The Bath Partnership

The NCIA action learning process has provided the time and space for partnerships to test and trial different approaches to civic activity.  During the second phase of the action learning, the innovation funding call was launched to enable partnerships to access more resource to take their ideas for pilot activity even further.

The six projects funded through the programme give a flavour of the breadth and variety of civic work being undertaken in the action learning process and beyond. We look forward to the lessons and learning that develop through the projects and sharing these with the wider sector

Project Manager of the NCIA Action Learning Process

The innovation funding underpins the action learning process, offering participants the opportunity, resources and support to pilot and test innovative practice.  The innovation funding projects will help to demonstrate how universities can build on and measure the effectiveness of ongoing and new civic approaches in their place.

Partnerships participating in the NCIA Action Learning Programme were invited to submit proposals for projects in collaboration with their civic partners and other universities. The projects in receipt of funding are exploring a range of approaches to civic challenges and are spread across England.

The NCCPE and NCIA are eager to see these projects develop and share the learning with other civic partnerships across the country.
