PEP Network Event: Learning from Public Engagement Grants
RSC Outreach Fund: Making a Difference
Societies, academies, research funders and funding bodies all provide valuable support to public engagement supporting people and projects at different scales and for different durations. The RSC has recently evaluated their Outreach Fund, which has been in operation for over a decade supporting the public engagement and outreach community with small grants that make a difference to people, places, practitioners and organisations. This session will capture what the RSC has learned from the Outreach Fund and reflect on the role of small grants in a changing landscape.
ScotPEN Wellcome Engagement Award: piloting devolved funding models
The SWEA pilot scheme (2019-21) devolved Wellcome funding support for public engagement with research to a Scotland-based team led by the Scottish Public Engagement Network. It was designed to improve the quality and quantity of researcher led engagement projects and to create opportunities for inter-institutional collaborations and partnership working. Through SWEA, ScotPEN funded 20 public engagement projects across 4 funding rounds. This session will share some of the key successes of the scheme and reflect on challenges faced.
