Training for Working in Partnership
This training course introduces partnership working. Partnerships are a key part of the engagement landscape and can take many forms. Whilst working in effective partnerships can bring many benefits to both parties, such as increased perspective, higher quality and relevant research, how do you get started? And how do you ensure that the partnerships you develop are effective for all involved?

Fees:

This course is aimed at:
- Academics and researchers at all levels with an interest in developing their engagement practice especially with communities (including Early Career Researchers and PhD Students)
- Professional Services staff in roles which support engaged researchers (including those with roles in Knowledge Exchange and Impact as well as other Public Engagement Professional roles)
- Groups of 10-20 people from the same organisation. Unfortunately, we cannot offer individual places on this course
This course will enable you to:
- Understand the value of partnerships that involve and share the knowledge of both university and non-university partners
- Develop skills for mutually beneficial partnerships - from setting the foundations to managing endings well
- Consider possible issues and challenges when working in collaborative partnerships, and how these might be addressed

Very useful for helping to gauge the perspective of potential (non-academic) partners and tailor your project to their aims and objectives in a way that is more likely to solicit their engagement and produce outputs that are of use to them.
Session Format
Our sessions can be highly participatory but we invite everyone to join in a way that suits their own needs and allows them to gain the most from the experience.
Both in-person and online sessions last 2.5 - 3 hours (including at least one 10-minute break) and involve a blend of presented material covering key theories, tools and frameworks alongside discussion and reflective activities in small groups. Participants are welcome to join group discussions or take time for some solo reflection.
In-Person Training
If you prefer your training to be delivered face-to-face, we allocate a tutor from our team of experienced practitioners to travel to your premises. On receipt of your booking form, we will send you a quote for delivery within 7 days, based on the information you have provided.
You can book single or multiple courses, and we will aim to schedule the delivery of these in as cost effective and efficient way as we can. We cannot guarantee to deliver two or more courses on a single day.
Online Training
You may find it easier for those with a busy schedule to book training delivered online.
We use Zoom to deliver these sessions and a variety of digital tools such as break-out rooms, whiteboards and Padlets to ensure the session is engaging and impactful.
All of our materials are accessible and we ask that you advise us of any participant access requirements or reasonable adjustments we need to make in advance to ensure that their experience is as inclusive as possible.
